16 DISC profiles

How four styles make 16 profiles
For each style, the test counts the difference between your “most like me” and “least like me” answers, from −24 to +24. The style with the highest total becomes your primary style, the first letter of your profile. The second-highest style counts as secondary if its total is positive, at least 40% of the primary one and no less than 3 points. It then becomes the second letter.
If the second style falls short of that threshold, the profile is pure: D, I, S or C. If it reaches it, you get one of twelve combinations. Four pure profiles plus twelve combinations make the 16 profiles in the table above.
Profile vs. style
A style is one of the four DISC scales: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness or Conscientiousness. A profile describes how they combine in a particular person: the primary style sets the core of their behavior and the secondary one adds a shade. That is why DI and ID share the same letters but are different profiles. The Pioneer (DI) drives toward results first and brings people along on the way, while the Motivator (ID) engages people first and gets results through them.
A profile is not a label or a grade. Everyone has all four styles; the profile only shows which of them come through most strongly in a familiar work setting.
